When we originally designed our master bathroom we had a shower insert and a tub. While they were framing, we decided that we couldn't have both, but we didn't want a shower/tub insert. Frank didn't think we could afford it but we said we'd do the tile ourselves if we had to. We also told Frank that we didn't want hardwood in the laundry room (everyone we've talked to agrees that would be a bad idea). We said we'd do that ourselves, too. Well, Frank is an awesome contractor but he doesn't have much faith in our abilities. He had the installer bid on the entire job. After a long week of painting, I was relieved to hear that to purchase all the extra tile and have it installed would only cost $500 more than our original bid! And we should come out okay because we didn't have to buy a shower insert.
