California Vacation

Last Tuesday, I got a phone call from Lark, Theron's mom, "What are your plans for this weekend," she timidly asked. Two days later, here they come: Lark, Stephen, and Grandma Jacque! Theron took Friday & Saturday off and we went to see what we could find to do. On day one we drove to Fairfield, CA and toured the Jelly Belly factory. On day two we drove downtown Sacramento to OldSac and toured the CA Railroad museum, took a real train ride along the river, and toured an old Victorian mansion called the Leland Stanford Mansion. Later that day we drove to Vacaville, CA to have dinner with Lark's friend Margene. On day three we went to San Francisco. It was so cold! We had tickets to Alcatraz, so that was our first stop. From there we took bus to Chinatown, where we had a light lunch and did some shopping. Next, we walked along the bay to Fisherman's Wharf. By this time we were hungry again, so we ate at a nice seafood restaraunt (rest assured famiy, I had chicken). Theron and Lark splurged on crab, but apparently it was well worth it. After dinner we drove down Lombard St. and across the Golden Gate Bridge. Sadly, it was foggy all day and they did not light it up for us. I wanted to stay overnight near SF so we could go to the 49ers training camp on Monday, but Theron was nervous about missing another day of work. And so we headed home.
As you can probably tell, it was quite a weekend! Poor Logan slept when he could, but he was sleepy and cranky most of the time. What do you do? It was still so fun to have visitors and actually get out and see Sacramento.

Here's a video from our train ride: this is the engine going from the back of the train to the front.

What a fun weekend. It is always fun for family to come, and it is fun to be able to do things. Dan's family is here and unfortunately there isn't a whole lot to do in Rexburg but having family come is fun in itself. Sounds like you had a fun and adventurous time. I love the picture of Logan and Theron, Logan has the cutest smile.

Heidi, your weekend sounds like so much fun. My dad would definitely be jealous- he loves San Francisco!

What a great weekend! We love to have company too, but not too many people get excited about visiting TX. :) Logan is so darling! Hope you guys enjoy the rest of your time in CA!
